450gsm ±45° Double Bias Fibreglass Cloth for Structural Composite Laminates
Double Bias Fibreglass Mat 450gsm is a stitched reinforcement fabric designed for high strength composite laminates in marine, automotive and industrial applications. Supplied in full rolls with a width of 1270mm and total roll weight of approximately 50kg, this material is ideal for large scale laminating and structural reinforcement work.
Constructed with continuous fibres stitched in a ±45° orientation, double bias mat provides excellent shear strength and multi-directional load distribution. This fibre alignment allows the laminate to better handle stress and movement compared to traditional chopped strand mat, making it a preferred choice for structural applications.
Unlike chopped strand mat, double bias fabrics contain no binder, allowing for improved resin penetration, faster wet-out and more efficient fibre-to-resin ratios. This results in stronger, lighter laminates with improved performance characteristics.
Compatible with polyester, vinyl ester and epoxy resin systems, this 450gsm double bias mat is widely used in boat building, composite fabrication and reinforcement applications where strength, consistency and efficiency are critical.

Double Bias Fibreglass Mat 450gsm Roll FAQs
Q1. What is double bias fibreglass mat used for
A1. It is used for structural reinforcement in composite laminates where high strength and load distribution are required.
Q2. What does ±45° mean
A2. It refers to fibres stitched diagonally in two directions, improving shear strength and multi-directional performance.
Q3. Is this stronger than chopped strand mat
A3. Yes, double bias fabrics provide significantly higher strength and better structural performance.
Q4. What resin systems can be used
A4. It is compatible with polyester, vinyl ester and epoxy resins.
Q5. What is the roll length
A5. Roll length can vary depending on manufacturer, but a 50kg roll at 450gsm is typically around 85–90 metres. Confirm with supplier for exact length.
Q6. Can it be used on curved surfaces
A6. Yes, it conforms well to curves while maintaining fibre strength.
