Bostik Simson ISR 70-03 is a high-performance elastic adhesive and sealant based on Silyl Modified Polymer (SMP) technology.

Designed for demanding industrial, transport and construction environments, it combines high mechanical strength with long-term flexibility, making it ideal for structural bonding and sealing where vibration, movement and dynamic loads are present. ISR 70-03 adheres exceptionally well to metals, painted and powder-coated surfaces, GRP, polyester, PVC and many other substrates, often with little or no primer. It is solvent-, isocyanate- and silicone-free, with excellent UV, weather and temperature resistance, making it suitable for both interior and exterior use. Compared with traditional polyurethane or silicone systems, ISR 70-03 offers cleaner handling, low odour, better paint compatibility and reduced health and safety concerns. Available in 290ml cartridges and 600ml sausages in black, white and grey, it is a go-to solution for caravan and motorhome construction, truck and bus body building, rail, marine, general fabrication and OEM production lines where reliable, long-lasting bonds and seals are critical.

Product FAQs

Q1. What type of adhesive is Bostik Simson ISR 70-03?
A1. It is a high-strength elastic adhesive and sealant based on Silyl Modified Polymer (SMP) technology, combining structural bonding performance with long-term flexibility.

Q2. Which substrates does ISR 70-03 bond to?
A2. It adheres very well to aluminium, stainless steel, galvanised steel, polyester/GRP, painted and powder-coated metals, PVC, glass and many coated surfaces, often without primer. Very low-energy plastics like untreated PP, PE and PTFE are not suitable without special pretreatment.

Q3. Can I paint over ISR 70-03?
A3. Yes. It is generally compatible with most common industrial paint systems (alkyd and dispersion). Always perform a paint compatibility test and follow the paint manufacturer’s recommendations.

Q4. Is it suitable for exterior applications on caravans, trucks and boats?
A4. Yes. ISR 70-03 has excellent UV, weather and temperature resistance and is specifically designed for exterior transport and marine environments.

Q5. Does it contain solvents or isocyanates?
A5. No. The formulation is free from solvents, isocyanates and silicone, making it safer and more pleasant to use compared with many traditional systems.

Q6. How long does it take to cure?
A6. Skin forms in around 10 minutes at 23°C and 50% RH, with a typical cure speed of about 3mm per 24 hours. Thicker beads and lower temperature/humidity will increase cure time.

Q7. When should I use primers or surface preps?
A7. On highly stressed bonds, difficult substrates or in wet/condensing conditions, the use of Bostik Simson prep products (such as Prep M, Prep G or Prep P) is recommended to maximise adhesion and durability.
