Q1: Is Soudal Bathroom & Kitchen Silicone mould resistant?
Yes. It is specifically formulated to resist mould and mildew growth in wet and humid environments when applied to clean, dry surfaces.
Q2: What is the difference between white, grey and translucent?
White and grey provide solid colours to match sanitaryware, grout or tiles, while translucent (clear) cures to a see-through seal that blends with glass and mixed surfaces. Performance is the same; colour choice is mainly aesthetic.
Q3: Can I use this silicone on metal or stainless steel?
Yes. It is a neutral-cure, non-corrosive silicone and is suitable for stainless steel, aluminium and most metals, including powder-coated and anodised finishes, provided surfaces are properly cleaned and prepared.
Q4: Is it suitable for constant water immersion?
It is designed for joints around showers, baths and sinks where water exposure is frequent, but not for permanent immersion (e.g. pools or tanks). For permanent immersion, a specialised sealant system should be used.
Q5: Can it be painted over?
Silicone sealants are generally not paintable. If you need a paintable joint, choose a compatible hybrid or acrylic sealant; otherwise, select the appropriate silicone colour to match your finish.
Q6: How do I prepare the surface before applying?
Surfaces must be clean, dry, dust- and grease-free. Remove old silicone and loose materials. On non-porous surfaces, cleaning with a suitable cleaner/degreaser improves adhesion.
Q7: How long before the area can be used?
Light water exposure is usually acceptable after curing has begun (check the bead is firm to the touch), but full cure and maximum performance are typically reached after 24–48 hours depending on bead thickness and conditions.
